"The cure is in the code..." - A Synopsis of the Trilogy

Updated: Mar 23

It is a story that combines science fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction genres with an upmarket literary fiction approach, and a plot that weaves through three distinct story arcs: twelve-year-old fraternal twins Hans and Hannelore, their brilliant nanotechnology-innovating father Dr. Adam Hafner, and their morally challenged, self-absorbed mother Miranda. What binds their three stories together is a knowledge that has been kept protected for two thousand years, documented in an ancient codex. In this codex is the secret to healing all disease. If placed good hands, it can revolutionize modern medicine into a practice able to manage perfect health for humanity - a technology that would lead to overcoming sickness, injury... even death. If in the wrong hands, however, it could be used to destroy the whole human race forever, in the blink of an eye.

The Forebear Chronicles is a trilogy: Validation, Verification, and Vindication.

Validation begins with twins Hans and Hannelore unmoored from both of their parents. Their father, a nanotechnology researcher with some celebrity for his breakthroughs in cancer treatment, has been absent for some months on a top-secret research project. Now their mother has unceremoniously dumped them at the doorstep of a grandmother they barely know.

This apparent tragedy, however, turns out to be a fortunate turning point. They go from a state of abject unwantedness to discovering that they have a special identity and an importance to humanity that was never shared with them before. They are the new generation of a Forebear Family. Their father was an unbeliever, so never shared with them their special role as guardians of humanity, and their Oma did not waste her sudden opportunity to introduce them to it. They meet Watcher Haniel, the angel that makes the truth of their special designation a matter beyond dispute, and the angel presents to the twins a mission. They are to acquire an ancient codex, containing intelligence capable of healing mankind.

It is no coincidence that all these events have come together as they have, for the twin's father has also been researching, albeit unwittingly but from a scientific approach, the very same cure: discovering how it is possible to correct disease at the DNA level. Not by using CRISPR or some other clunky cut-and-paste sort of technology, but by wirelessly transmitting code corrections, down at the DNA level.

Meanwhile evil forces are at work, particularly operating in the orbit of the twin's mother, Miranda, who had abandoned her children to pursue a self-fulfillment, purpose-seeking getaway at the Manasseh Ministries retreat center in Florida. Her corrupted soul is easy to control, and there are demonic forces working on her and plotting to use her to block the progress of the discoveries of both her researcher husband and her children.

Verification begins with twins in Germany, now in possession of this codex, called the Book of the Seven Seals. It is so-called because it has seven rings binding the leaves shut. They are on their way to the Netherlands to have it unsealed and the contents reviewed, deciphered, interpreted, verified for its origin and purpose. Strangely, at first look, the contents seem to be a ledger documenting tallies, which prompts the need to access other books that are like it, which had been discovered by a group of middle eastern archeologists over a decade ago, but the set of 70 metal books have been kept under the lock and key of the Jordanian government. Getting the authorities to give access to these books presents a complication that seems insurmountable. Meanwhile the twins' father, Dr. Adam Hafner, is making progress with his team of scientists. They are well on their way to developing a new communication medium able to transmit data to the polymerase, where DNA is transcribed. Once this feat is accomplished, they need only know the high-level source code able to govern the proper sequencing of DNA, to transmit it through the communication medium, to test it out. Scientists have seen hints of it at work in various disciplines, particularly in quantum physics, and now they have identified an objective that requires them to finally understand it. To the best of their ability, they try to piece together a working outline of it based on what they have observed.

Miranda, the mother, is being groomed by both invisible to the eye demonic forces and the very visible, high-profile yet somehow sinister leader of Manasseh Ministries, to become a complete weapon or all the personalities that controlling her. The time is drawing near for her to be used to steal the code so that the demonic can, at long last, invade all of humanity and destroy it.

Vindication begins with Dr. Hafner's research team making great strides, under increasing duress of their own military handlers who control the secret research labs where they are sequestered, developing this new form of communication they have come to call the Aeneas Algorithm a technology that cooperates with quantum communication principles, the wireless medium that seems will work to transmit code correction to re-sequence and restore correct DNA coding. But they are also frustrated that, despite all their efforts, they cannot synthesize a governing source code that would be able to consistently transmit the right information to the polymerase to make a DNA-correcting therapy work consistently. The information the twins have in the codex is the information that their father needs, but getting it to him at his top-secret location is going to be a feat. Especially since their mother Miranda has now been unleashed to stop them. She is also poised to destroy her husband's work, entirely willing to do the bidding of the demonic forces who own her. All of heaven and hell collide in the human dimension as the war over humanity comes to its final climax.

This is a story of a family becoming re-acquainted with its 2,000-year fidelity with the heavenly dimension. Standing against evil forces lurking, conspiring plots to steal control, the Hafners will cross the multiverse, travel geographical distances, and go back in time through their ancestral genome in order to find this codex book, validate it, and get the information that is contained in it to their father in time.

This sounds pretty interesting. Curious to know what the source code actually is.
